Two of four new ones!

New auto-belays for Boston! This is one of four new ones, which now brings the total to ten! Enjoy 🙂

From March 2nd-4th four members of our competitive climbing team will be in Colorado Springs, CO competing at USA Climbing’s Bouldering Nationals. Since September, the Rock Spot Team has been competing at bouldering competitions around New England, and after an extremely dominate performance in New Jersey at Divisionals, four team members will have the opportunity to compete at a National level. Kids and young adults from around the country will be joining them in Colorado to compete. Levi Tracy, Grace Scott, Veta Mayer and Oliver McMahon will all be competing at Nationals.

Our climbing team is a part of the Rock Spot community and we are asking for the communities help in raising the necessary funds to help send the Team to Nationals. Any contribution would be much appreciated. We are trying to raise $1000 to help fund the Team for the trip and fees for Nationals. Please contact travis@rockspotclimbing.com with any questions.

The Rock Spot Team thanks you for the support.

Super-late update on the new boulder problems in Boston

Sorry 😉

Hope everyone had a good time during the Holidays.

Big thanks to all of the competitors who came out for the Showdown Comp. For those of you who didn’t make it you missed a pretty exciting laid back comp.

Special thanks to all of the staff who helped out…spotting, checking people in, stripping/cleaning holds, and cleaning up nachos!

Giant thanks to our sponsors and hold providers…THANKS! Hold reviews on individual companies to follow so stay tuned.

And finally a really HUGE thanks to my setters for the comp. Keith Nadeau and Pete Kamitses. Yep our guest setter was big Pete from up north (Burl, VT). He set some pretty rad stuff so check it out while they’re up. Oh and Kieth sets some amazing stuff as well, but you all knew that.

Our final thanks goes out to the rest of the setters for the awesome routes that were filled in after the comp…Chris Motta, Chris Pert, Travis Rubury, and Derek (who has a large last name that I won’t even try to spell…his initials are DCJ).

Thanks, enjoy the routes!

Ooh look at the pretty colors…don’t forget The Showdown this Sat @ our Boston gym!

Final batch of new toys for Boston!

This time we get on board the time machine to revisit some old favorites from the recently resurrected and classic hold company Pusher…yep, Pusher.

Make sure you chalk up while looking at the pics…

Sadly we won’t be able to screw these or any of the other new holds onto the wall until our Pro/Am Bouldering Comp, “The Showdown” on Saturday, December 10th. So consider this a big tease.

Until then, start training like a madman (or woman)…because you’re gonna need all the power (and skills) you can acquire between now and then. (FYI – The comp is a Pro/Am format, which means anyone can enter…and possibly win)

cheers!

Boulder Update:

Done! 69 (dude!) new problems to keep you busy until our Black-Light Boulder Bash on November 12th (7pm) and our ABS Boulder Comp the following day (Nov 13th – 9am).

Awesome new stuff. The rating(s) are specific this time around. No more range (ex: V0-V1, V2-V3, etc…) The cards now have a single grade assigned to them. We’ve also done our best to make the grades soft accurate.

Anyway…we hope you enjoy the new problems! As always we are open to any and all suggestions…don’t hesitate to contact us…and remember, the best climber is the one who is having the most fun…so stop reading this and go have fun already!

Cheers!

Last set for the Climb It holds…I hope you lose sleep over these pics…in a good way of course!
