$15,000 in cash & prizes!
The Boston Boulder Brawl couldn’t happen without the help of our incredible sponsors
Please take a moment to learn more about them
The Boston Boulder Brawl is a redpoint format, boulder style climbing competition located at our South Boston location at 30 OId Colony Ave. Our fourth annual competition will take place on Saturday, April 7, 2018 with $15,000 in cash & prizes for competitors and spectators.
Climbing competitors across 7 divisions will have a set time to climb their choice of 60 boulder problems. These problems are given a point value equivalent to their difficulty and when time is up, a competitor’s top 5 climbs will be totaled for their competition score.
Top three male & female competitors in each division will win prizes and the top 7 male & female pro competitors will win cash.
The evening will end in a thrilling final’s round where the top 7 male & female pro competitors will compete in an epic brawl with the male & female winners taking home $1,500 each along with title of Boston Boulder Brawl Champion.
Ages 13 and under
Climbers with physical and mental disabilities
Please register for your division based on the level you regularly (comfortably) climb at. Each division has a Male and Female category.
Rock Spot Climbing reserves the right to bump climbers into a different division based on performance on the day of the event.
Note: Competitors aged 13 and under MUST compete in either the Youth or Pro division, but will receive two complementary spectator tickets for parents/guardians.
The top 7 male and female climbers in our Pro division receive a cash prize, with first place being $1,500! In all other divisions, the top 3 male and female climbers receive prize packages provided by our sponsors.
Prizes for other divisions include climbing shoes, crash pads, clothing, chalk bags, water bottles, etc. We’ll be adding prizes to the list as they come in, so check back regularly.
We will also be giving away prizes to spectators throughout the event to keep everyone pumped and cheering on the competitors.
$7,500 cash purse
$6,000 prize purse
$1,500 crowd product giveaways
Pro redpoint qualifying round and Youth & Adaptive redpoint competition
Recreational, Intermediate, Advanced and Masters redpoint competition
Pro “Brawl” (Finals)
We will make every effort to adhere to this time schedule. Please note that multiple divisions will be climbing simultaneously during redpoint competitions and while there will be 14 climbing sections with a total of 60 problems, plan on waiting 5-15 minutes to get on a climb.
There will ONLY be a “Brawl” for the Pro division. Please try and check in at least 15 minutes before your division begins to hear rules and warm up. Early registration packet pick up will be available with details emailed out a few weeks before the Brawl
Our South Boston location is equipped to host large-scale events like the Boston Boulder Brawl with restrooms, showers, changing areas and plenty of storage space for valuables. While we do have lockers along with cubbies, space is limited so we do ask that each guest do their best to take up as little space as possible as a courtesy to each other. It is recommended that all items left in cars be kept out of sight.
Getting to the gym
You’ll want to fly into Boston’s Logan Airport and find local transport to the gym.
We can be reached via the Mass Pike or I-93. Rock Spot Climbing is located in South Boston, with easy highway access. Please use the map and links above for directions.
We are a 5 minute walk down Dorchester Ave from Broadway on the Red line of the T. There is also a bus stop on the corner of 7th and C streets.
Peddle and park in our indoor bike parking space.
We have a spacious, complimentary parking lot on C street, about 100′ off Old Colony Ave. Street parking is also available, but parking zones are strictly enforced so please check signs as there are many loading zones and residential spots in our area.
Hotel prices are high and rooms are limited in Boston. We highly suggest checking out AirBNB as there are several private apartment/condo rentals in the area as well as private rooms available. We are also right off Interstate 93 with a 110 car complimentary parking lot which makes driving in from hotels that are a little further out from the city an easy option as well.
There are many local restaurants within walking distance of the gym. In addition to our wide array of snacks for purchase (bars, jerky, candy, etc), pizza will be available by the slice throughout the day.
We’re so thankful to the climbing community and the city of Boston for giving us the opportunity to celebrate our 4th year hosting the Boston Boulder Brawl.
Watch highlights from previous years as we look forward to another incredible event the entire community can enjoy.
We had a great time at the 2017 Boston Boulder Brawl and we hope you did too. Final results are posted below, and be sure to follow us on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube for lots of photos and videos to be posted soon. See you all on Saturday, April 7, 2018!
