Pre-team
What is pre-team?
Pre-team is a place to take your climbing to the next level. Think of this as a JV sport including practices, conditioning, and competitions. This is a great space to grow your passion for climbing while strengthening your skill set and understanding.
This class is ideal for the climber that is self-motivated, a hard worker, passionate about climbing, and is interested in committing to climbing as a sport. Pre-team provides climbers with access to our TEAM ROCK SPOT coaches. In class climbers will dig deeper into technique, conditioning, and philosophies of climbing.
How much of a commitment is pre-team?
We practice as a team 2x a week for an hour and a half. These practices are important to build strength and understanding of the sport. The climbers receive full memberships to the gym and are encouraged to climb on non-practice days as well. Day trips may be taken to other gyms and outdoor locations throughout the year.
Competitions?
Once climbers join pre-team they are invited to begin looking at the world of competitive climbing! Pre-team members are invited to come and watch a local competition and may even be asked to compete with TEAM ROCK SPOT. This participation is dependent on the climbers interest, strength, and understanding. We want to make sure that participants are ready to compete and are excited about it before bringing it to the table.
If you are interested in competing talk to a coach! They will help to create a timeline and plan specific to you.
Is my child ready for the team?
After a few seasons on pre-team you may be ready to step it up to Team, think of that as our varsity alternative. Team is a competitive based program practicing 2-3x a week for 3 hours.
Once we are aware a climber is interested in moving up from pre-team we will create a specific list of goals and a training plan for that individual. Once they are ready we will ask them to join Team Rock Spot!
