Current number of Top-Ropes @ our Boston location.

words…simply…can’t…begin………to describe…

The utter pleasure it is to climb the new Boulder Set at our Lincoln, RI location. Awesome, truly awesome. Check ‘em, out!

As always I’d like to thanks the setters who made it out for this session. Dave Jusseaume, Keith Nadeau, Kump, Paul Rightmeyer, Chris Simpson, Danny Howard, and Lary Norin (?!?). Yes folks, Lary came out of retirement for this one. He only got one problem up, but its a doozy!

So…we listened to our feedback box and changed the following:

1) We set 60 problems this time around (see graph for grade distribution). In this case, less is more. Last set there were 70 problems which led to much confusion and much too much tape and route label removal by the “Bad Footwork Patrol”*

Less Problems + Less Tape & Labels = (hopefully) Less Confusion + Happy Climbers

2) We listed the Boulder Problems 1 thru 60 with an appropriate grade. Simple. Effective. Obvious.

Thats it!?! Keep the feedback coming. Just remember the following… Comments about routes being reachy and sandbagged will be ignored. You’ve been warned**

*Helpful hints for the “Bad Footwork Patrol”…

Watch your foot as you place it on the hold. Put it on the hold only…do not place it 5-6 inches above the hold then scrape it down the wall before it finally comes to rest on the desired hold. Don’t drag your toes up the wall either.

By following the tips above you will prevent premature tape and label removal as well as make yourself a better climber…win win situation.

**Please don’t take the ramblings of the head setter as either being serious or funny.

OMG!!!

What happened to all of those dirty, reachy, contrived, tape missing, sand-bagged boulder problems!?!

I’ll tell ya! We’ve taken them all down to make room for more… dirty clean, reachy, contrived, tape missing adequately labeled, sand-bagged boulder problems!!! We even mopped the top of the boulder! So for the first week you don’t have to hold your breath while topping out. (I know, we outdid ourselves before we even put a hold up)

Remember, there might (key word is MIGHT) be a few boulder problems up tonight (Monday – Feb 28th). So keep that in mind if you plan on coming down to boulder tonight. Setting will commence on Tuesday march 1st and end on Wednesday March 2nd.

That is all…

Huge thanks to my setters (Keith, Ryan, Kumpy and Paul) for all of the great boulder problems and awesome artwork they created. It was a ton of work, but it was totally worth it…I can’t wait to do it again…Thanks guys!

And thanks to all the staff who helped out with the event.

Check out the pics, and come on by to check out the new problems!

We’ll be taking down the artwork (sob, sob) to make room for more boulder problems. We currently have 41 quality climbs (VB thru V9) with another 49 being put up on Wednesday and Thursday this week!

So if you wanna see the artwork one more time, get here before Wednesday. Otherwise it’ll be too late.

Enjoy…

Ryan Cahill
(aka = RPC)

Age: 28
Climbing: 4 years
Hardest send???????  Full Throttle v7/8 i guess, who knows (felt pretty hard to me)
Favorite spot:  in my limited travels i would have to say Bishop, Ca.  Thailand awaits so we shall see!
Favorite Climb:  Last Call (Lincoln Woods)  Although there is Sheep Herder in Bishop which is my anti-style.  v2 highball slab.  Lots of fun
Projects:  Rump to Jump & Diesel.  2 totally different climbs, both a pain in my @$$

Mike Dominguez

(aka = Mig)

Born: 1977
Years Climbing: 21 (started climbing in the 80’s (1989)… took 5 years off from climbing between 1998 and 2003, so really only 16 years…but it still makes me an old man)

Favorite Place to rope up: Yosemite, CA

Favorite Bouldering Area: If I were to base it solely on the movement of the climbing I’d say Hueco Tanks. If I consider: the scenery (!!!), rest day activities (hot springs!!!), food (Schat’s Bakery), and the movement of the climbing… It’s Bishop, CA. No question. If you’ve been there, then you know. If you haven’t…you must HATE to boulder.

Setting Philosophy: I like to set routes & problems that have a smooth flow to them. My routes tend to be stiff for the grade…its intentional though. I want the climber to be fully prepared (physically) and comfortable (mentally) on a certain grade if they are to attack a similar grade outside.

Cheers!
