Bouldering for Brookline, MA
We’re building a brand new bouldering facility in Brookline, MA
Brookline, MA – We (Rock Spot Climbing) TODAY announced that we will begin construction of a brand new indoor climbing facility with approximately 4,133 sq. ft. of climbing walls at 880B Commonwealth Avenue, Brookline, MA. This facility is located IN THE HEART OF BOSTON UNIVERSITY CAMPUS, just steps from the ARMORY STREET stop off BOSTON’S LEGENDARY GREEN LINE with ACCESS INTERSTATE 90, along with BOTH STATE ROUTES 20 AND 3. The New Haven location will be our company’s FOURTH in MASSACHUSETTS, joining three others in RHODE ISLAND, and two more locations in CONNECTICUT, one of which will begin construction soon. We pride ourselves in being a Southeast New England based company almost twenty-five (25) years in existence; among the largest climbing chains in the country.
This NEWEST location will focus SOLELY on a form of climbing known as BOULDERING, where climbers, USING NO ROPES, scale climbing problems set on walls that are shorter than a traditional top rope wall at around 15ft to 17ft, protected by a fully padded flooring system. This style of climbing will be featured in the 2024 Olympics in France and will be the company’s third (3rd) gym that focuses on this style of climbing. There are plans to also include other training amenities like cardio & free weight equipment. This facility will compliment Rock Spot Climbing’s other bouldering and full-service facilities in the Malden and Boston areas.
NADAV MINKIN, CO-OWNER of Rock Spot Climbing said, “We are so excited to provide our brand of accessible and inclusive climbing to the city of Brookline and the surrounding area. We hope this facility will be a place for people of all ages and abilities to discover and enjoy the sport with friends and family.” He added, “The sport has skyrocketed in interest from the time that our first gym opened almost 25 years ago in 1998. We’re extremely proud that our company has been a leader in the growth and success of the overall climbing industry in the region. Along with our two projects in Connecticut that we announced just last week, our company is rapidly expanding.”
LARY NORIN, CO-OWNER said, “We have been so proud to be instrumental in raising awareness of our sport and growing the community in our region. More people looking for activities and experiences they can share together. That said, nothing makes us prouder than knowing we have over 150 team members across three states providing a fun, active experience for all who climb at our facilities.” Norin added, “We are excited to see our company growing, having survived the pandemic. It is a testament to the strength of our business, our amazing staff, our sport, and our incredible climbing community.”
