Health and government officials in the states of Rhode Island & Massachusetts are entrusting fitness communities to reopen in a limited capacity to help businesses like ours provide our services.
The safety of our community is our top priority. We are all in this together and while we will eventually get back to climbing as we did before the pandemic, we must all do our part now to help each other manage the risk from this virus.
The following protocols were developed to adhere to the guidelines developed by Rhode Island & Massachusetts health and government officials and will allow all of us to climb together. For the safety of our staff and community, we ask that you read and comply fully with these protocols as they are required to use our facilities during this initial opening phase.
Gym use is open to all climbers, including walk-ins, in a limited capacity.
All locations are currently open to walk-in traffic.

If you are an Electronic Billing Member (EBM) and your home gym is one of our Rhode Island locations including Lincoln, Providence, or Peace Dale, your membership was AUTOMATICALLY reactivated when we reopened on June 5.
If you are an Electronic Billing Member (EBM) and your home gym is one of our Boston, MA locations including Boston-Dedham &South Boston, your membership was AUTOMATICALLY reactivated when we reopened on Monday, July 13.
If you are a Pre-paid member, your membership will reactivate on your first visit back to one of locations. If you would like to maintain your freeze, you must pay for single day use until you are prepared to reactivate your membership.

Punch passes are a great way to save on climbing visits to any Rock Spot location.
These passes never expire, can be shared with friends & family and are electronically linked to you so you can’t lose them. At $60 for 5 punches, that’s $12 per visit! Pick up as many sets of punches as you like and add climbing gear rental including shoes, harnesses, and belay equipment for $15 per set of 5 punches.
Our Night Owl Climbing promotion is BACK!
Every night at 9pm, enjoy $10 climbing until we close at 11pm across ALL LOCATIONS! Gear rental and a basic safety orientation are included and NO RESERVATION or APPOINTMENT is required. We’ll have you climbing in our climate controlled facilities in minutes with accessible climbing for all ages, all abilities.
Groups and small events
With the successful opening of our locations, we have received many requests to host group events. While we are opening our facilities to organizers, the safety of our staff and community remain our primary concern so we are limiting group sizes per location.
Online bookings have been closedand event management will be done with personal care from our local Gym & Program Managers. Group sizes will be reviewed and all bookings will be designed with our community’s safety as the highest priority.
In response to the increase in COVID cases in Southern New England, we have reduced our maximum in-gym capacities across all Rhode Island locations by 20% and urge group organizers to heavily consider their maximum group size before planning any event. DO NOT EXCEED group size limits set by local health and government official.

To provide enough time for staff to clean the facility when we close and to open earlier hours for members, we are shifting our hours of operation temporarily during this initial opening phase.
South Boston: 8AM-11PM (6:30AM EARLY OPENING EVERY MON-FRI)
Boston-Dedham: 10AM-11PM Daily
Lincoln, RI: 9AM-11PM Daily
Providence, RI: 10AM-11PM (8AM EARLY OPENING EVERY TUE & THU)
Peace Dale, RI: 8AM-11PM Daily
When you arrive please put on your mask before entering and proceed to the front desk to check in. If there are others checking in at the same time please line up on the marked spaces to maintain 6 feet of distance between customers and staff.
You will be asked a few screening questions to confirm that you have not been experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms in the past 72 hours and given the opportunity to sanitize your hands before entering the gym. You will also receive a card that you will leave in your cubby to mark it as used and let the staff know that it requires cleaning when you leave.

One of the best ways you can protect yourself and others from any possible contamination is to regularly sanitize your hands throughout your visit. This can be done by washing them with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or using a hand sanitizer. All climbers are required to sanitize their hands before and after every climbing session. We also suggest that you sanitize your hands frequently throughout your visit as you will regularly be coming into contact with holds that cannot be cleaned between climbers.
Inside of the gym, masks or other facial coverings must be worn at all times. While we are doing our best to clean the gym thoroughly throughout the day we cannot clean the holds between climbers. By wearing a mask while climbing you are keeping yourself from breathing on the holds and helping to protect all of our community members.
We understand that climbing is an athletic activity and some people are concerned about being able to climb effectively with a mask. There are many masks on the market designed to allow for easy breathing during athletic activities that we suggest if you share that concern.
If you don’t have a mask, we have a limited supply of limited edition Rock Spot Climbing branded masks for sale.
We have reduced the number of climbs on our walls to ensure that there are at least 6 feet of distance between climbers on the wall. We have also marked spaces on the floor where you can wait for a climb while maintaining social distance from other climbers.
Please be courteous to other climbers and take turns using different walls and bouldering zones to make sure everyone gets a chance to climb.
All staff and customers are asked to remain 6 feet away from each other whenever possible in the gym. People who live together in the same household are not required to maintain 6 feet of distance from each other. Certain areas of the gym, such as the retail store or workout rig, do not allow for easy social distancing and will be clearly marked as limited to one household at a time.
Staff will constantly be cleaning the gym throughout the day, making sure to disinfect high touch points. We ask all guests to disinfect any used fitness equipment after use with the provided cleaner and disposable towels.
While our bathrooms will be open, some amenities like foot washing stations or showers will be closed.
In accordance with the RI & MA Department of Health guidelines all water fountains and bottle fillers may not be used at this time. Please bring your own full water bottle or purchase a drink from our store.
No street shoes are allowed on the climbing floor. No bare feet are allowed in the gym.
We are continuing to provide rental shoes for our climbers, which will be disinfected after each use and quarantined for 72 hours before returning into circulation.
We will not be renting chalk bags and we ask that climbers to not share chalk. Please keep all chalk sealed in a chalk bagwhen not in use. We strongly encourage the use of liquid chalk as it reduces the amount of dust particles in the air.
