South Boston Summer Climbing Camps
If you are still filling your child’s summer calendar, now is a good time to lock in a camp before spots disappear. Rock Spot Climbing’s School Vacation & Summer Adventure Programs offer an active, engaging option for families who want something beyond the usual summer routine.
At Rock Spot’s South Boston location, the Indoor Adventure Program runs every week from June 22 through September 4. Camp is open to kids ages 6 and up, and no prior climbing experience is required. Registration also includes all necessary gear, which makes it an easy option for first-time climbers.

Camp Options and Pricing

Rock Spot offers flexible scheduling to fit different family needs. Each week, you can choose from:
  • Full-day camp: 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM
  • Half-day morning camp: 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM

There are also a few ways to save. Rock Spot members receive $20 off each week of camp. Families also get $20 off when registering a sibling or another participant, and multi-week registrations receive $20 off each additional week booked for the same climber.

What Kids Can Expect at Camp

The core of the program is climbing instruction, but the day is designed to include plenty of variety. That balance helps campers stay engaged while building confidence, learning new skills, and having fun.
Camp activities include:
  • Climbing skills practice
  • Climbing-based games
  • Team-building activities
  • Outdoor games
  • Arts and crafts
Climbing instruction covers essentials such as tying safety knots, belaying, and learning different climbing techniques. Campers also take part in climbing games like add-on, knock-out, traverse tag, Simon Says, and create-your-own-climb.
When the group heads outside, kids visit nearby fields or parks within walking distance of the gym for activities like capture the flag, kickball, and playground time. Arts and crafts add another change of pace, including tie-dyeing a Rock Spot T-shirt that campers can keep as a fun reminder of the week.

Safety, Supervision, and Staff Support

For many parents, supervision and safety are just as important as the activity lineup. Rock Spot emphasizes a low kid-to-staff ratio so campers receive focused instruction and attention throughout the day.
Staff members are trained to create an experience that is both fun and safety-conscious, with climbing instruction designed to help kids learn in a supportive environment.

Get a Better Look at the Camp Experience

If you want a closer look at what camp is like, Rock Spot has shared video highlights from its youth adventure programs:

Ready to Sign Up?

If your child would enjoy Rock Spot’s Indoor Adventure Camp, you can visit the registration page to book a spot. Availability may change quickly, so it is worth checking current openings sooner rather than later.
If you still have questions, you can stop by the gym to speak with the front desk staff or contact the Program Manager through the General Inquiry form.

Bonus Option for Older Kids

If you have a child age 10 or older who wants even more adventure, Rock Spot also offers an Outdoor Adventure Program through Rock Spot Boston-Dedham. That program travels to a new climbing destination each day of the week, which could be a strong fit for more experienced or adventure-driven campers.
