Whats wrong with this picture…?

“Ermahgerd! There’s no tape!” (said one climber)…“Awesome!” (said another)…“Looks a lot cleaner. Probably makes it easier to follow the path you’re on.” (said the UPS delivery man as he dropped off some sweet climbing gear for the Pro-Shop in Peace Dale)

That’s right everybody! No more tape for marking the Boulder Problems at our Peace Dale, RI gym. We will slowly be transitioning away from using tape for the Top-Rope / Lead climbs as well…and we will be getting rid of the tape at our other gyms…with some gyms transitioning faster than others (hint…Boston!)

In the meantime, come check out all 81 of the super-fantastic-new Boulder Problems at our Peace Dale, RI Gym! Here’s a list of all the new stuff…

Epic new Boulder Problems in Peace Dale!!!

First and foremost I would like to thank the setters for setting some of the coolest problems I’ve ever had the pleasure to climb…thanks guys!

Next I would like to introduce our new grading system…this will be somewhat of a refresher as I basically introduced it last week for our Lincoln reset, but there is a slight change. After getting tons of positive feedback on the new system, it seemed the masses wanted the “V” grade to be included as well as who set it. So as you can see in the second photo, the overall range (B, I, A, #) is the prominent central character, with the “V” grade and the setters initials now being included. You can also refer to photos 3 and 4 for locating where certain problems are.

You’ll notice that in the section labeled “Wall” there are some unfamiliar names. We’re going to refer to the walls by a certain name to help describe where the climbs are located (until we label them with a stenciled letter just as our Top-Ropes are labeled with a number). The walls are as follows…

Upstairs = Upstairs Boulder

Lead Cave = Boulder Problems located in the Lead only area

Hueco = The super-steep boulder wall to the left of the Arch

Arch = Climbs located in the Arch (stairway / emergency exit door)

Bishop = The steep boulder wall to the right of the Arch

Now stop reading this and go climb! Be sure to tell the staff how much you enjoy the routes!!!

Cheers!

We’ll be resetting the Lead Cave Monday thru Wednesday (11/11 – 11/13) Tuesday – Thursday (11/12 – 11/14) from 9am – 5pm. Please plan accordingly and get psyched for some new Lead Routes!

New grading system for the Boulder Problems at Rock Spot!

Starting with the current set in Lincoln and eventually spreading to each gym, we will be simplifying our labeling by having them list only the Range {range meaning – Beginner (B), Intermediate (I), Advanced (A) and Ninja (#)}

Feedback has been great so far in Lincoln! A breakdown of the grades for individual problems as well as who set them will be posted at the end of each reset. Lincoln’s list is currently posted to the right of the Arch in the bouldering area (just left of the men’s room door). For your convenience I’ve also included the list with this post.

As always, enjoy the routes and please feel free to give us your feedback!

Cheers!
